A Nigerian delegation comprising trainees of Nigeria?s Ministry of Affairs and the Nigerian National Policy and Strategic Studies Institute visited yesterday the Secretariat of EPRDF. The delegation led by Dr. Rukayya A. Gurin was briefed by officials of the Secretariat. Extensive briefing on the challenges and opportunities Ethiopia has been facing in introducing democratic change and the leading role EPRDF played to ensure peace, stability, democracy and development was given to the delegation. The briefing was given by EPDF Executive Committee Members Ato Muktar Kedir and Ato Hailemariam Desalegn as well as EPRDF Public and Foreign Relations Department Head Ato Sekutoure Getachew, who explained to the delegation about the decisiveness of democracy and development to the existence of the country, the struggle underway to fight rent seeking and the wide ranging activities carried out to wipe out poverty and the victories scored as well as other related issues. Members of the delegation on their part lauded the role EPRDF is playing to ensure peace, development and democracy, and pointed out that they have gained useful experiences from the visit. The Secretariat officials further responded to the questions raised by the delegation. Satisfied with the explanations, members of the delegation finally expressed their gratitude to the warm welcome they were accorded.
